Schneck Medical Office Building
arcDESIGN designed the Schneck Medical Office Building as an outpatient clinic to support the neighboring hospital in Seymour, Indiana.
Schneck Medical Center is a top-rated nationally recognized health center with deep roots in its rural community of Seymour, Indiana. The scope of this project included the leadership team’s goals to physically connect the new MOB to the existing hospital, make the outpatient clinics easily accessible to all patients, and reinforce the Schneck brand to the community.
The interior design is timeless with a focus on wayfinding and patient comfort. The selected materials support the Schneck brand, relate to the adjoining existing hospital, and function as a backdrop for evolving design trends. Most color is added through furniture upholstery which can be updated over time as it reaches the end of its lifecycle. The glass wall tile and darker tile floors at the elevators are a direct nod to the elevators within the hospital and reinforce the language used throughout campus for public circulation. In addition, limestone was incorporated throughout the interior in key locations to provide a singular design language with the exterior of the new building and other buildings on campus.
The building has five similar floors of flexible clinic space with centralized registration and waiting, two pods of 12 exam rooms, and shared staff workrooms and lounge. Schneck’s commitment to education is expressed through the distinguishable multi-story classrooms on the first, third and fifth floors opening to great views of the surrounding area. Custom lights were designed with the help of Specified Lighting to be seen glowing at night along the main thoroughfare, Highway 50. These fixtures were engineered and tested to ensure that these fixtures would be evenly illuminated and without hot spots.
Ultimately, the building was designed to engage, celebrate, and serve the Seymour community. All images for the framed artwork throughout the space was sourced through local photographers and staff members and features local landmarks and nature. It was the perfect touch for the facility that exemplifies Schneck Medical Center’s commitment to the patients and community they serve.
