Retina Center Ophthalmology Clinic
Seferin Arquitetos da Saúde utilized rich materials and and neutral colors to complete the Retina Center Ophthalmology Clinic in Porto Alegre, Brazil.
Seferin Architects of Health’s design for Retina Center ophthalmology clinic is focused on the patient well being. With a concept that is more similar of a home interior than a classic healthcare environment, there are more private spaces. Identifying the several waiting rooms and its photographs on the wall, patients feel more welcomed while they are waiting for the appointment.
Retina Center’s new facilities occupy 370m of a triple A in the heart of Porto Alegre. To create an atmosphere of a more private service and don’t seem like a big clinic, 2 front desks were created in order to detach medical specialties and provide different small waiting rooms for patients. Following a demoted high ceiling hallway, the wooden brise divides those spaces without blocking the beautiful view.
The attention to details and acoustic comfort were very high in this project. The walls were isolated by wool, the ceiling lining are made of absorbing materials. The VRF air conditioning system’s indoor units were installed above the ceiling and there is a complementary air renovation system to improve the indoor air quality avoiding the spread of infectious diseases.
The choice of materials for this project was based on a neutral concept, with similar colors, to highlight specific elements. The color palette ranges from white to light gray for the walls, to the elegant dark gray for the floor and black for the metals. The wood pattern in the masonry and the caramel’s furniture contrast with the gray tones and warm the environment. The most significant object are the large colorful photo frames hanging on the walls.
