Stantec completed another phase of the renovation and expansion for maximizing care at Sutter Santa Rosa Hospital in Santa Rosa, California.

The Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital (SSRRH) recently finished a three-story expansion project with other renovations expected to be completed this fall.

The expansion wing will add significant space to provide health and healing of patients across multiple departments. Connecting to the existing hospital and levels one and two, the new building contains 40 additional private room beds, an operating room, three endoscopy suites, ground floor prep and recovery space, and a specialized conference room for staff learning.

Scheduled for completion in fall 2022, the final phase of the project is wrapping up. This work includes 10,000 SF of renovation to the existing emergency department, adding 21 ED exam rooms. Additional work includes enhanced dietary services, expanded lab/blook bank, and renovation of central sterile processing.

Infrastructure improvements included a new electrical room, IT room, and boiler room in the new building. Expansion of the main electrical room in the original building and significant upgrades were made to the existing central utility plant to support the chilled and hot water, steam, and medical gas needs throughout the expansion. A new central reverse osmosis system was provided to serve the final rinse capabilities of the existing and new decontamination washers. Existing voice, data, nurse call, electronic security, access control, video surveillance, voice paging, and fire alarm systems were all addressed to support the project.

Stantec used Lean design and delivery principles in partnership with the general contractor team of HerreroBoldt. The project is being delivered using an innovative Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) approach. Design services being provided by Stantec include architecture, interiors, mechanical/ electrical/plumbing, landscape, acoustics, IT services, and sustainability.
