Nationwide Children’s Hospital – Data Center + Conference Facility
Gensler designed Nationwide Children’s Hospital Data Center + Conference Facility in Columbus, integrating a public learning and conference space with a data center using advanced technology, reflective glazing, and nature-inspired elements.
Nationwide Children’s Hospital Data Center + Conference Facility is a new hybrid-use building that combines a highly public program focused on learning and conference with the security and resiliency of a leading-edge data center. Anchored by a 300-seat expandable meeting space, the multi-level learning environment includes a state-of-the-art simulation center supporting continuing education, staff training, and events. The project is topped by enterprise-focused data center technology with dedicated computing power that supports solving today’s most pressing health issues.
The unique bundle of programs sits in proximity to Nationwide’s numerous research and healthcare facilities for pediatric care, and its highly reflective glazing shines as a beacon of multidisciplinary learning at the heart of the campus. A fritted façade provides added security to the data center levels, while transparency welcomes in those using the conference and simulation facilities. Nationwide’s nature-focused branding includes trees and butterflies, symbols of hope and renewal, reinforced by warm wood tones in the building’s lobby.
