Compassion Health – Primary Care Clinic & Pharmacy
The Collaborative repurposed a former public library into a primary care health clinic in Toledo, Ohio, emphasizing natural light, simple colorful finishes, and budget conservation for community benefit.
The Collaborative initially partnered with Compassion Health Toledo to assist in a design competition where the former Mott Library building would be given to an organization who could add value to the community. Upon winning the building, Compassion Health engaged The Collaborative for full design services to repurpose the former public library facility into a new primary care health clinic to serve the surrounding community. The 9,000sf project includes a 9-exam room clinic, pharmacy, and community room. The design team incorporated the existing design features of the building, such as the central clerestory to bring natural like into the spaces the caregiver’s spent most of their time. Finishes are simple yet colorful and worked within the client’s budget, allowing them to conserve funds and best serve the community.
