  • The design for Levels 3 and 4 reflects Littleā€™s commitment to creating healing environments that prioritize patient well-being, reduce stress, and streamline care delivery. On Level 3, a vibrant city theme inspires exploration and engagement, with environmental graphics like walking paths and transit maps providing both playful energy and intuitive wayfinding. Designers positioned patient care areas near windows to maximize natural light, which enhances the healing environment, while interactive features like dry-erase walls in public spaces encourage play and engagement for patients and families. Soft, nausea-reducing colors and textures were thoughtfully selected to create a welcoming and calming atmosphere. Level 3 also connects the north and east wings of the hospital via pedestrian bridges, making it a central hub that houses the 80-person pediatric conference center and a smaller 15-seat meeting room, supporting collaboration and training among multidisciplinary teams.

On Level 4, a serene mountain theme incorporates biophilic design elements like curving walls, organic materials, and illustrations of mountains, forests, and lakes that bring nature indoors while aiding navigation. Natural light fills the space through window-lined corridors, further contributing to the calming and restorative environment. The layout prioritizes efficiency and privacy, with three clinical neighborhoods housing 33 exam rooms and two therapy gyms to support specialties such as surgery, urology, OB-GYN, neurology, epilepsy, and neonatal intensive care follow-up. Together, the designs of Levels 3 and 4 blend functionality with creativity, fostering a sense of comfort and care for patients, families, and staff alike.

This design strategy not only creates welcoming spaces but also promotes operational efficiency and multidisciplinary collaboration, demonstrating Littleā€™s ability to meet the needs of a world-class medical institution while enhancing the patient experience. Post-occupancy surveys show a 90% satisfaction rate, underscoring the impact of these thoughtfully crafted spaces.
