Spring Hill Ambulatory Surgery Center
Hardaway|Sziabowski Architects designed the Spring Hill Ambulatory Surgery Center in Spring Hill, as a prototype for efficient surgical spaces, blending regional aesthetics with functionality to create a calming patient environment.
This 8,500 sf free standing ASC with 2 OR’s and procedure room located in Spring Hill, FL was completed in 2020. Specialties include orthopedics, pain management and general surgery. Architectural services include assistance with site selection, site layout, full architectural design and CA services, and coordination of the AHCA plan review and inspection process.
Incorporating two 500 SF operating rooms and one procedure room, this surgery center served as a prototype for a client intent on building highly efficient surgery centers. The project is designed with the ability to expand its footprint for additional operating rooms and PACU beds, procedure rooms or extended stay rooms.
Drawing inspiration from the regional architectural language, the design incorporates deep overhangs and shaded porches – elements that provide both shelter from the intense sunlight and a welcoming sense of arrival. Balancing openness with protection, the facility features a deep-covered entrance for comfort and shade, while tall windows with integrated shading devices regulate natural light, creating a calming environment for patients and visitors. A soothing color palette further enhances this sense of tranquility. Durable stucco and porcelain tile, selected to withstand the local climate, reflect the area’s architectural vernacular, reinforcing both resilience and aesthetic continuity.
