  • Location Beauport, Canada,
  • Type Clinic,
  • Located in a well-established residential neighborhood, the OptoPlus Beauport clinic has long been a trusted destination for comprehensive eye care. To reflect its ongoing commitment to visual health and client experience, the Groupe SOI and the OptoPlus team mandated Folio Design to completely rethink the existing space. The result: a serene, efficient, and refined clinic where wellness, functionality, and aesthetics converge.

The design team was tasked with transforming a compact layout into a modern, client-focused environment, balancing retail and clinical needs. From the reception area to consultation zones and sales displays, each section was carefully considered to enhance flow, comfort, and clarity. The redesigned waiting area and front desk now create a warm first impression while streamlining operations and offering greater privacy. Distinct zones for waiting, selling, and consulting promote a calm ambiance and reduce visual clutter without the need for physical partitions.

Inspired by the Japandi aesthetic, the clinic’s interiors fuse Scandinavian warmth with Japanese minimalism. Neutral tones, earthy materials, and salmon pink highlights create a soft, luminous palette. Decorative lighting and subtle wood textures add warmth and tactility, while curved furniture lines guide the client’s journey through the space with ease. A sculptural, rounded reception desk anchors the environment, enhancing flow and visual cohesion.

Despite space limitations, Folio Design optimized every square foot with meticulous planning. The retail zone was divided into three display areas using integrated, custom furniture, allowing for personalized shopping experiences. Opticians’ workstations are partially enclosed with wooden elements to offer discreet consultation zones, fostering a sense of trust and professionalism.

Lighting played a critical role in the redesign. Natural light was maximized, particularly in the eyewear display area, while custom pendant lights with soft silhouettes accent key moments throughout the clinic. Together, they create a welcoming atmosphere far removed from the sterile feel of conventional medical spaces.

Material choices were both elegant and sustainable. White ceramics reflect light and contribute to a sense of cleanliness, while layered woods and fine metallic mesh add depth and contrast. In a commitment to eco-conscious design, existing display components were refurbished and integrated into the new fit-out, including restored metal rods and concealed storage within custom millwork.

By uniting operational efficiency with a deeply considered spatial experience, OptoPlus Beauport transcends the typical eye care clinic. Every design element contributes to a seamless, inviting client journey, from consultation to selection, underscoring the clinic’s dual mission: advancing vision care and enhancing human-centered design.
