CTA | Cushing Terrell committed to making a better space within the existing plan for the St. Vincent Healthcare Joint Center located in Billings, Montana.

The Joint Center is committed to providing a team-building environment for their patients, and CTA’s highly innovative and open design concept allows for this to take place. This complete renovation of 13,500 sq. ft. is designed around a hospitality concept with attention given to minimizing the institutional elements common to hospital settings. The Joint Center includes 18 new inpatient rooms and a centralized seating nook and nourishment station, which encourage a sense of community among the patients and supporting family members. At the core of the Joint Center is a physical therapy space and work out area which include a new exterior deck to provide space for all patients to direct patient access to nature.

One of the challenges of this project was navigating the existing layout and a complicated floor plan. The team had to devise creative ways of designing rooms with the square footage needed, while keeping within the structural and plumbing configurations of the building. CTA | Cushing Terrell designers were able to overcome obstacles and give the client exactly what was envisioned.
