Emblem Health Medical Office Building
Array Architects finalized the Emblem Health Medical Office Building, a necessary medical center in the Brooklyn borough of New York City, New York.
Located on a bustling intersection in the center of Brooklyn, sits the Emblem Health’s newest facility in its portfolio. The new 160,000 SF Medical Office Building was designed to serve the growing community in this urban setting and as one of the largest and newest buildings in the neighborhood, serves as a catalyst to development and growth in the local community.
The building’s exterior architecture is purposefully designed under a continuous marquee, to help connect to the urban fabric. The facade’s design was in response to data delivered through solar analysis. The folding glass wall was parametrically designed to respond to mitigate late afternoon solar gain, as well as provide stunning views of the city from community spaces and waiting areas.
With the community being the driver for the development, a community center was included on the first floor. Alongside it, were Urgent Care and Imaging, which have high walk-in patient volumes – allowing for easy access through the highly visible storefront.
Three parking levels were integrated in this project to allow for easy access to all visitors. Discretely placed off the street, vehicular traffic is directed up a ramp and into three levels of parking. The parking levels are cloaked in a back-lit veil of custom perforated soft white metal panels. Draped in articulated glass wall, the top three floors of the building served physician practices, which provided a range of services including Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Nuclear Medicine, Ophthalmologist, Dermatology, Pediatrics, Phlebotomy, and Nutrition.
