Fairfax Radiology Centers – Breast Center of Loudoun
Architecture, Incorporated designed a hospitality-like experience for patients at Fairfax Radiology Centers’ Breast Center of Loudoun in Leesburg, Virginia.
For the design of their new 7,880 square-foot Breast Center of Loudoun (BCL), Fairfax Radiology Centers sought to seamlessly combine the most innovative technology and procedures with a hospitality-like experience. BCL comprises mammography rooms, bone density rooms, ultrasound rooms, and a stereo biopsy room. The state-of-the-art treatment rooms surround a large patient waiting area and changing rooms.
In order to create a calming environment that provides specialized care for women, the client prioritized elements of a spa-like experience. In the spacious patient lobby, seating is organized around custom movable partitions with nature-inspired window film, designed for both safety and privacy. The centerpiece of the space is a biophilic hydro moss green wall punctuated with preserved roses and flowers. Directly off the lobby, patients are guided through a check-in area into a very large dressing area with a furniture-like case goods.
The floral theme continues throughout with an art program of abstract pieces with a floral reference. Durable but elegant finishes include patterned wall coverings, carpet, luxury vinyl tile flooring, and solid surface counters punctuated with non-institutional lighting fixtures and hospitality-inspired accent furniture. Additional work in the build-out within an existing MOB includes an entirely new HVAC system with dedicated units for each room. The BCL is both functional and beautiful, a space designed to meet both the physical and emotional needs of patients seeking the highest quality of care.
