The renovation of the Eskenazi 5th Floor Family Labor and Delivery Center includes the interior fit-out of 2 new LDR rooms, a new OB Workroom and a GYN Workroom. With a demanding need for growth, the additional LDR rooms were built to ensure the staff continually provide a high level of care to their Family Beginnings patients. These new rooms mimic the finishes and aesthetic of the existing LDR rooms down the hall, creating a fresh space that fits in the visual language already established. While the finished look was an important focus visually, matching the existing rooms was also crucial to keep the staff familiar with the layout and equipment locations. This allows physicians to walk into these rooms and focus on providing patient-centered care with confidence knowing these new rooms function as close as possible to the rooms they currently work in. A focal point within the room is the planked wood laminate headwall behind the patient bed, housing all the ergonomically-placed medical gases and outlets. The directional grain pattern of the veneer leads your eyes up toward the perforated eucalyptus ceiling panel that encompasses the linear lighting and birthing lights. These warm-toned finishes paired with the pink accent-colored walls create a non-institutional atmosphere, giving the space a better sense of familiarity and comfort.
