Kirksey Architecture used thoughtful materials and colors to design a welcoming and warm environment at the Menninger Gathering Place in Houston, Texas.

In addition to a full range of inpatient and outpatient counseling services, The Menninger Clinic provides a facility called The Gathering Place. As those struggling with behavioral health issues work to gain independence in their daily lives, The Gathering Place supports them through multiple programs. Members, as they are referred to, can take advantage of the computer lab to help build a resume, take a job in the snack shop to develop retail skills, participate in a cooking class in the teaching kitchen, enjoy a yoga class, or just relax and socialize by playing a game of pool or cards with other fellow members.

The original facility was in need of an update, so a new design concept was born. The home has always been the primary gathering place for family and friends. It’s where you break bread, laugh, live, and spend time with those you love. For this newly imagined Menninger Gathering Place, the Farmhouse Style was the perfect fit. The farm house is trusted and established. The farm house is sturdy and weathers the storms with grace and strength. The farm house warmly welcomes you home.
