Jennie Edmundson Hospital – Cardiovascular Suite
RDG Planning & Design designed Jennie Edmundson Hospital’s new cardiovascular suite in Council Bluffs, Iowa, strategically located for efficient access and outfitted with cutting-edge equipment to enhance patient care.
Nebraska Methodist Health System’s Jennie Edmundson Hospital has introduced its state-of-the-art cardiovascular suite, marking a major advancement in heart care for Council Bluffs and the broader southwest Iowa region. The new suite, designed by RDG Planning & Design, significantly enhances the hospital’s ability to expand its cardiovascular services.
Strategically located between the hospital’s emergency room and radiology department, the suite benefits from its proximity to these critical areas, as well as to operating rooms and locker rooms, ensuring quick access when needed. The design incorporates all-new equipment and streamlines operations, allowing the hospital to perform advanced procedures more efficiently and manage patient care with greater effectiveness.
The 5,700-square-foot suite replaces the hospital’s outdated and undersized cath labs and includes two Class 2 imaging rooms, a minor procedure room, four prep/recovery rooms, and additional support spaces. The design emphasizes patient and family experience, offering a dedicated family waiting room, intuitive flow of movement, and clear separation between family-access spaces and procedure areas. Additionally, a shared storage room between the two imaging rooms reduces the need for duplicated equipment, enhancing overall efficiency.
