  • HKS has completed the design for the Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas located in Austin, Texas.

As part of the newly-formed University of Texas Medical District, the Dell Seton Medical Center at The University of Texas is in the center of a vibrant, diverse and pedestrian-friendly urban district. The 486,000-square-foot, 7-story teaching hospital offers a variety of services including 192 inpatient beds, emergency services with a Level 1 trauma center, radiology, laboratory, pharmacy, administration, interventional radiology, surgery, perioperative services, 30-bed intensive care unit, 30-bed intermediate care unit, 102 acute care beds, women’s services, NICU, nursery, wound care and CPNS. The roof of the south tower features a 2-pad heliport and the north tower is planned for a 4-story vertical expansion.

Taking advantage of visual access to the natural beauty of Waller Creek, as well as a renewed Waterloo Park, the medical center offers a variety of pedestrian amenities, as well as the potential for outdoor terrace dining and other public functions facing Waller Creek. The public entry plaza visually connects across Red River Street to the Dell Medical School Administration Building entrance plaza, creating a gateway into the University of Texas Medical District. The project has attained Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) for Healthcare Gold certification.
