Located within the serene, park-like Encircle Campus in Appleton, Wisconsin, the ThedaCare Medical Center Orthopedic, Spine, and Pain (OSP) Center is a state-of-the-art orthopedic center of excellence. As the third addition to the campus, alongside ThedaCare’s Ambulatory Care Center and Regional Cancer Center, it consolidates surgery, rehabilitation, clinic, and inpatient services under one roof, delivering a seamless and comprehensive patient experience.

HGA collaborated with ThedaCare and Hplex, developer and owner’s representative, to design a facility that blends with the existing campus while creating a distinct identity for OSP. Reflecting ThedaCare’s patient-centric brand, the design features a vibrant material palette and hospitality-inspired elements, setting a new benchmark in the competitive elective surgery market.

The design enhances the patient experience with bright, uplifting colors bringing a sense of energy and encouragement to patients during their healing process. Thoughtful touches, including decorative lighting, nature-inspired finishes, and modern furnishings. High-end materials like laminated gold mesh glass and specialty wallcoverings provide both aesthetic appeal and functionality, ensuring privacy and durability. Carefully curated artwork and furniture, including sun-inspired themes, infuse warmth and charm, appealing to patients across all demographics.

Every detail of the OSP Center is crafted with the patient in mind, ensuring a positive and memorable experience at each step. Features like intuitive wayfinding, self-service kiosks, and easily accessible spaces for mobility-limited patients provide comfort and convenience. The resulting facility not only elevates the standard of care but also fosters a sense of reassurance and encouragement for patients during their healing process.
