Incorporating natural elements and a serene atmosphere, the Northside Hospital Atlanta Family Lounge offers a calm and comforting environment, thoughtfully curated for both patients and visitors. Designed with interior healthcare professionals in mind, the 1,600-square-foot lounge (part of a larger 5,065-square-foot space) seamlessly blends nature with a modern healthcare setting, creating a restorative sanctuary. Central to the design is the “Tree of Life,” an iconic feature crafted entirely from solid surface material and envisioned by HLGstudio & HRD, with fabrication by Futurus.

Surrounding this centerpiece are tulip-inspired light fixtures, crafted from flexible Techno Polymer leaves and supported by sleek metal stems, casting a soft, organic glow. The space is further enriched by mosaic tiles that evoke floral patterns, tying together the natural theme while ensuring the area feels both therapeutic and uplifting. The design concept extends throughout the lounge, with upcycled glass pendants adorning the entrance gallery, and a porcelain backsplash in the pantry that mimics delicate tree branches—an intentional nod to nature’s calming influence.

High 13-foot ceilings amplify the sense of openness and tranquility, while every material choice was carefully selected to enhance both function and beauty, fostering a healing environment for all who enter .This space showcases how interior designers can blend aesthetics with wellness, offering a clear example of how nature-inspired design can transform a healthcare setting into a restorative, human-centered environment.
