Shepherd Center – Arthur M. Blank Family Residences
Rule Joy Trammell + Rubio’s Arthur M. Blank Family Residences in Atlanta redefines healthcare hospitality, offering 165 accessible units designed for comfort and community to support families of rehabilitation patients.
Shepherd Center’s newest housing tower, the Arthur M. Blank Family Residences, offers a welcoming home away from home for families of newly injured rehabilitation patients who live more than 50 miles from our main campus. Families can stay close to their loved ones throughout the full duration of their rehabilitation, easing the stress of being away from home.
The residences reimagine hospitality on a healthcare campus, delivering a high-end, purpose-built extended stay that prioritizes comfort, accessibility, and dignity for patients of the Shepherd Center and their families. Located at 1860 Peachtree Road, the project doubles Shepherd’s family housing capacity, adding 165 fully furnished units specifically designed with “Shepherd-accessible” features—each home equipped with roll-in showers, roll-under vanities and sinks, widened 4′ travel paths, and hospital bed-friendly layouts. Oversized elevator cabs and mirrored back walls ensure wheelchair maneuverability, further supporting a seamless transition home.
The Arthur M. Blank Family Residences create a sense of community and respite. Families can unwind in the sundries and recreation spaces, complete with lounge areas, a pool table, foosball, and a dedicated kids’ zone. A full fitness center and an accessible outdoor garden—with dining areas, a pavilion, and a screen wall with a water feature for acoustic privacy create moments of rejuvenation. The 15th floor has a clubroom, meeting spaces, a library, and sweeping terraces with panoramic views of Midtown and Buckhead.
Street-level retail space further activates the site with an envisioned future restaurant that would have terrace seating facing Peachtree Road. A grand porte-cochere welcomes guests with shuttle-ready access and food delivery accommodation, and the integrated parking deck maximizes accessibility without compromising design. As an extension of the Shepherd Center campus, the Arthur M. Blank Family Residences sets a new benchmark in healthcare hospitality.
