  • Citivision Design Group completed Fosun Healthcare BFC, a space that promotes peace and calm as an alternative to a traditional healthcare environment in Shanghai, China.

The plan was to create a sense of place which underscores the identity and mission of Fosun foundation healthcare to incorporate a palette of clean, warm, and modern materials. Furthermore, the design strategy was to have spaces that foster a variety of specific uses, from social interaction to meditative relief, with a mind to future flexibility for the entire property.

The design brings the soothing influence of nature and the comfort of home. Throughout the clinical spaces, the desire to bring natural light to the building interior influenced the building planning. Based on contemporary lifestyle, a well balanced commercial strategy and artistic visioning of the interior design, the overall concept visioning presented a unique spatial narrative centering on the idea about energy balance, yin and yang; the treasure of Chinese cultural heritage.

The cultural context of yin and yang was refined as the thread of the overall design, and the spirit of conforming to the law of nature and practices inherited from ancient times was closely integrated into interiors.

The entrance area is characterized by warm wood finish, nature stones and large areas of marble, which breaks through the stereotype of traditional cold tone of healthcare spaces and also shortens the distance between the brand and consumers.

Natural materials, upholstered furniture and lighting gives a warm and reassuring luxury to the clinic, without compromising functionality and practicality. Marble, walnut wood, wool, beige color palette help to achieve a relaxing environment, classy yet contemporary look. The furniture was chosen keeping simple lines and pure shapes.

Stepping into the space, people will be firstly welcomed by an area which provides variety of healthy tea drinks. It’s aim is to slow down the pace of urbanites who are struggling for a bright future and remind them to take care their health.

In line with an important energy concept — “Unity of Human and Universe”, the spatial interfaces, furnishings as well as decorations were integrated as a whole. Seats and backdrop walls show the imagery of mountains and water and echo the decorative lighting fixtures with geometric shapes. Besides, art installations featuring plant specimens were brought into the space, adding natural vitality to it.

The decorations deliver a feeling of affordable luxury. Leather, combined with brushed stainless steel, generates neo-classical and exquisite spatial textures, while marble flooring set an elegant and simplistic tone. Through all the space the idea was to convey a humanistic attitude towards life, and to remind people to care more about themselves.
