  • NORR was tasked with the necessary completion of an Emergency Department expansion & renovation at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pennsylvania.

Robert Packer Hospital’s emergency department was originally designed to accommodate 25,000 annual visits. Since then the ED has been stressed beyond capacity so the hospital undertook an intensive Lean Process to develop an expanded department, which will accommodate 75,000 annual visits.

Using Lean Process planning, the hospital developed a plan to completely replace the existing in multiple phases, utilizing space from a vacated critical care unit. Through a highly competitive selection process, NORR was selected to implement the conceptual plan.

NORR was tasked with continuing the Lean approach in all stages of the project. In addition to the 26,000 SF of phased renovation, NORR has designed a new ambulance entrance, new decontamination system and a new, expanded patient drop-off and canopy, which were made possible through building expansions totaling 4,500 SF.
