  • E4H Environments for Health Architecture designed a comfortable atmosphere for patients at Solinsky Center for Cancer Care in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Elliot Health System enlisted E4H to create a comprehensive cancer center incorporating the existing radiation oncology section of Elliot Hospital in Manchester, NH. The 22,000SF Solinsky Center for Cancer will reduce travel time for patients, consolidating what used to be multiple treatment sites into one space, and will provide state-of-the-art chemotherapy, radiation oncology, medical oncology, and other holistic services all under one roof. This critical adjacency improves communication between physicians and support staff, and now provides patients with everything they might need from diagnosis through recovery all within the Elliot campus, thereby giving patients the respect and high quality care they so deeply deserve.

The design for The Solinsky Center provides a modern, calming feel for patients throughout their visit. Floor-to-ceiling windows in the lobby incorporate natural light and paired with the modern light fixtures and natural finishes, foster a calming environment. Curated paintings and ceiling sculptures add color and interest, playing upon the themes of nature. The large windows and natural finishes are incorporated throughout other areas of the building as well, including in the semi-privation infusion treatment areas overlooking the Center’s healing garden for patients. The healing garden, an integral part of the Center is landscaped with a variety of plants, granite seating, bronze sculptures, and an artistic abstract canopy. It recognizes nature as a healing element, increasing a sense of hope, renewal, and restoration. Patients and their families even have access to a meditation room while on site. The soothing colors and materials create a reflective space. In addition to the thoughtful design, The Solinsky Center also utilizes staff to provide help with directions and questions through the cancer center and across clinical disciplines, adding a personal touch and support for both new and returning patients.

Elliot Hospital was the first cancer center in NH and has continued to expand its cancer care services to those traveling from within the Granite State and beyond. The Solinsky Center was made possible due to over $12 million in donations to their ‘Hope is Here’ campaign. The doors were opened at the beginning of August, providing access to state-of-the-art cancer care to more patients than ever before.
